ABOUT US
The Cascade Chorus started in 1946 when the Eugene Chapter of SPEBSQSA was chartered.
We are one of the oldest and most successful chapters in the Pacific Northwest. We are
invited to perform all over our region, traveling from California to Canada. We have also
been selected to represent our District (Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, Washington,
and Oregon) 10 times at our International Convention and Contest.
Our goals are to preserve the a cappella, four-part harmony style, to entertain, to serve
the community, and to provide a life-long hobby of recreational singing, good fellowship
and camaraderie.
We serve our community in two ways. First we entertain. Each year locally we do our
annual show, and a Christmas show. We also accept performance requests for conventions,
parties, meetings, and schools. February you'll find us in Yachats doing a benefit show
with their Lions Club. February is also a time for love, so we offer quartets
performing Singing Valentines. If it's August, it must be Florence, where we join
their local barbershop chapter and put on a show in their beautiful Performing Arts Center.
We do love to sing.
We had some photos taken at a recent annual show. We've added a few to the web site so
you can see us in action. Just click on Photographs Once there you click on the thumbnail to see a larger version
of the photo. Once viewing the larger photos there are arrows to switch photos. To return to the thumbnails or to this page, use
your back button on your browser.
We've also added a historical slide show--pictures of the chorus and some of our quartets--from 1946
through the present. Just click on Pictoral History.
Because of the size of some of the photos and speed of your computer, the pictures may take a few seconds to load.
Charities
Our second service to our community is charitable. We have donated over $80,000 dollars
locally to charitable organizations and school music departments. We feel that music in the schools is important to our future, and have started the
Cascade Chorus Foundation to help support music education.
Music in schools creates our next generation of singing members.
We strive for excellence in our singing. Prospective members are always welcome. We only ask you
have an accurate musical ear and a love of music. Our music team will assist you with learning
the music, and provide weekly musical training.
We love to share our hobby and always welcome prospective members and friends to our rehearsals.
We meet Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10:00 PM at the St. Paul's Catholic Church Fellowship Hall,
1201 Satre St, Eugene, Oregon.
Musical Leadership
Coby Foster is our talented director. Click on his name
and check out his musical resume.
We have been lucky enough to gain the talents of Matthew Crandall as our
assistant director. His barbershop experience and skills have been a great gift to the Cascade Chorus.
